Code Geass is an anime that would be on the favorite anime list of anyone who likes complicating storylines and ongoing plots. It has a badass main character who also happens to be an amoral killer and wears an all-black superhero costume. It’s the ideal fantasy show for any anime fan interested in anti-hero themes. It also shows political and social issues and numerous profound themes dealing with life or death, there is always something to stay engaged in the show.

Code Geass is not only “dark” but is relatively clever in its use of war crimes and extreme violence as plot devices. It shows promise in the general premise, where we’re following the main character’s quest unfolding while witnessing large-scale military and political conflict at the national level. Code Geass is a mecha military original anime series produced by studio Sunrise.

Synopsis: The Holy Empire of Britannia, a dominant nation, invaded Japan in 2010. Japan was renamed Area 11, and Japanese citizens are now referred to as Elevens. Britannian aristocrats began living a life of luxury in Area 11, while Elevens were forced into poverty. It led to Japanese resistance forces working towards independence for Japan.

One day, Lelouch Lamperouge, a Britannian student studying in Area 11, found himself in the crossfire between Britannian and the Area 11 rebel armed forces. In a chance meeting with a mysterious girl named C.C., Lelouch gains Geass, the power to command anyone, and manages to escape. With newfound power, Lelouch vows to destroy those within Britannia’s top leadership who once wronged him many years ago.
