Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions is a cute little romantic comedy show from KyoAni with a dash of drama thrown in for good measure. The show is structured as a slice-of-life show, with all of the typical high school narratives. But, being a rom-com drama, it does conform to the usual tropes in that regard, with one major difference: the romance actually takes place between the main characters.
The story and the various character arcs draw you in and are very compelling, but what sells this show is the character writing and their performances. The characters are all fleshed out to a much greater extent than in the average rom-com, as they all go on their respective journeys. Watching Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions’ characters interact inside and outside their dramatic entanglements makes the show exciting and fun.

Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions is a rom-com slice of life anime series adapted from the light novel series of the same name, written by Torako, and illustrated by Nozomi Osaka.
Synopsis: Most teenagers have grandiose fantasies, convincing themselves to have possessed undiscovered knowledge or personal abilities. The plot revolves around Yuuta Togashi, who also suffered from delusion, aka chuunibyou, in middle school. Yuuta used to refer to himself as the “Dark Flame Master” during his chuunibyou phase.
Yuuta, embarrassed by his past, attempts to begin high school where he knows no one. However, a classmate named Rikka Takanashi, who is still in her chuunibyou phase, learns about Yuuta’s past and becomes interested in him, much to his surprise. Will Yuuta be able to live everyday high school life with Rikka reminding him of his embarrassing moments constantly?
