Hajime no Ippon is a Japanese boxing-themed shounen anime series adapted from the manga of the same name written and illustrated by George Morikawa.

Synopsis: Makunouchi Ippo is a teenager who lives with his mother and helps her with the family fishing boat business. However, he is frequently bullied by his classmates because he is shy. Takamura Mamoru, a boxer, came to his rescue one day when he was being bullied. Fainted after taking punches from bullies, Takamura escorted Hajime to his boxing gym.

As he regains consciousness, Takamura tries to cheer Ippo up by letting him vent his frustrations on a sandbag, where he displays an explosive punching power. Finally, inspired to become a boxer himself, Hajime quickly proves himself to Takamura and begins his journey to becoming a professional boxer.
